United States / Arizona
Arizona is a Midwestern state reaching from Mexico to Utah. In other words, as the northern regions are mostly high plateaus of arid land parted by the Colorado River, the southern side of this state almost reaches the tropical zones. Being so, it is possible to come across different patterns of landscape and climate.
The natural beauty of Arizona is something else, and not surprisingly attracts so many tourists every year... You'll come across red sands of arid desert, high plateaus divided by streams, snow covered mountain peaks, lakes, wildflowers in meadows, lush forests of huge trees, and most important of all, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the magnificent Grand Canyon that stretches almost three hundred miles in the middle of thousands of feet high arid plateau! The northern regions of the state is in fact mostly high arid plateaus, reaching 5000 feet in elevation. The Grand Canyon was carved by the constant motion of the Colorado River for thousands of years and you can observe various geological eras, levels of fossils, rock types and formations housing ecosystems. The sight is already astonishing as it as. And then there are sunrises and sunsets when sunlight dances over the red tones of the vast land. Even this everyday events will put a huge smile on your face and stay in your memories for a lifetime.
Arizona has other national parks and state parks as well. Petrified Forest National Park and Lake Havasu State Park are highly recommended; they have unique sights and attractions, very different from each other. Lake Mead is another of the favorite sights for tourism. Another of the attention grabbing qualities of Arizona is the living Indian Heritage. There are 22 Native American Reservations that contribute to the value of the state in every way.
All around the state, you'll find numerous golf courses, great scenic roads, tried and tested hiking trails and camping grounds, climbing opportunities and at high altitudes in winter, cross country skiing. Combine that with great authentic metropols like Phoenix and Tucson, and you'll get an all rounder featuring high quality urban life of restaurants and shopping along with peaceful, unstressed serenity of the nature. Arizona truly offers a lot...
