Switzerland Hotels
Switzerland, the
home of Alps has always served as a middle ground for Europe, not
just geographically, but also in terms of foreign relation. This
stance developed a very different culture here. At first glance, the
society looks to be a mix of Italian, French and German cultures.
Non of them is dominant and all just live in harmony. Even the
language is neutral between four official languages, Swiss German,
French, Italian and Romansch. This custom of neutrality and high
democracy is what Swiss culture is all about. What you are, is not
more important than what you did or can achieve. Rules are well laid
down, well respected and well enforced. All the country works as
organized as a Swiss watch.
Switzerland does
not have a coast. The landscape is pretty rugged. Beautiful Alps
where white hills meet the skies compose a divine background image
for the whole country. The tranquility of untouched crystal clear
lakes and rolling plateaus are such nice and peaceful places to be
in. The climate is temperate and of course greatly varied by the
altitude. The peaks are white all season. The serenity of the green
in the plateaus of foothills should be experienced.
There are very
good winter tourism opportunities on those peaks that you admire from
down. Switzerland was the birthplace of skiing after all. Qualities
offered by the facilities are at best. No wonder the world leaders
always choose these destinations for international conventions.
As we mentioned,
Swiss have always been neutral and so, acted as the negotiator
between conflicts. This country did stay away from both of the World
Wars. This neutrality resulted to Switzerland becoming the most
trusted banking central of the world. The society prospered greatly.
Everything is very well kept and maintained. The historical
buildings for example, are in great harmony with the modern life. Not
just as monuments, but as a part of daily routine. Centuries old
towns are still living, breathing full of life, just like when they
were built. The modern architecture stays in perfect harmony with the
tradition. Nothing looks dull or out of place. However, the society
doesn't have the amateur charm and friendliness of developing
countries. As long as you abide by the rules, you will be accepted
but don't expect any special treatment. There are very high standards
here, and to enjoy it, you have to be a part of it.
When we think of
Switzerland, 5 things come to mind, Swiss Alps, Swiss chocolate,
Swiss cheese, Swiss clockwork and Swiss Army Knives. Make sure you
enjoy them to the full extent on your travel. Do not miss the
shopping opportunities on the chic Euro style shops. However, the
prices are usually steep. Euro along with Swiss Franc is accepted
everywhere.
