Morocco Destinations
Morocco is the country at the
southwestern tip of Africa. It is a beautiful country that unifies
European, African and Middle Eastern cultures into one unique blend.
The Gibraltar Strait separates Morocco from Spain not only
geographically, but also culturally; if you look at the pages
history, you'll notice many nations went forwards and backwards
through. Dark ages saw the Roman-Morocco. In medieval ages, these
lands were home to one of the most advanced civilizations. Today's
Morocco is however, is more influenced by the French period of after
World War I. In the streets you'll hear French being spoken as often
as Arabic.
Morocco has coasts in both
Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Most people will enter this
country through the international airport in the magical city of
Casablanca on the Atlantic coast. Casablanca is a dreamy city. From
there, you have to travel further south, inlands, to the old city of
Marrakesh, an area steaming with history and culture. Getting lost in
the maze of souks and discovering the unique architecture of old
monuments, especially mosques, you will enjoy every minute spent
here. For those who are looking for more casual approaches to their
travel, Atlantic coasts provide very good opportunities and
facilities for family style summer vacations. Regions of Essaouira
and further south Agadir are vastly popular, the beaches are top
class. Behind the beaches, start the glorious Atlas Mountains and
they provide such amazing sights... The environment, especially
during sunsets reveal breathtaking visuals. These dance of colors
turn trekking trips in these flower covered hills into a sublime
experience. Further south, on the other side of these hills,
everything changes. The tones of green turn into yellow and the
second face of Morocco reveals itself to you, the Saharan Desert, the
sea of yellow. The indigenous people of Morocco, the Berbers are
hardy men adapted to harsh desert life. You might come across Berber
villages where the real culture of these lands shows. Desert tourism
is gaining popularity lately, and for the enthusiasts, Sahara Desert
is one of the best spots. Desert trekking, camel safaris and other
options are available.
Arabic, Colonial and Berberi culture,
with the blend of the typical African heritage, turn traditional
cuisine of Morocco into a pleasure. It is often called one of the
best of the world. Spices are unique, vegetables and meat are widely
used. The most important dish, Couscous basically a type of semolina
grain, is served in all meals, mostly with an accompanying stew.
However, you might find it hard to come across restaurants offering
traditional cooking because eating out is not a frequent habit for
the locals.
Morocco combines spectacular views with
familiar pleasures and doing so, offers a very delightful vacation
for the whole family. Altogether, it sounds like a logical and
reasonable choice as a foreign vacation destination.
