Mexico is a very popular tourist's destination, one of the top ten most visited countries and has a very well developed tourism industry. This makes it much easier to just enjoy your vacation without too much hassle.
As we all know, Mexico is where the bad guys escaping from the sheriff are trying to reach in western movies. It is the southern neighbor of the USA, and links the Continents of North and South America. The country is very close to the Equatorial line, considerably hot, and has tropical climate in some of the regions. This unfortunately also means the land is open to Hurricanes most of the holiday season.
There are deserts, nature reserves and mountain ranges, mostly in yellow and orange in Northern Mexico, which definitely reminds of Western movies. Colorful towns and colonial cities, some of which have been declared World Heritage Sites, are worth having a visit. Cities around the regions of Pacific coast are known for their culinary traditions, as well as some of the most astonishing beaches such as Acapulco. Those famous pictures with white sand and a palm tree leaning to the clear, calm ocean are probably taken here. You can find opportunities for scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, golfing, tennis easily in the facilities. Most of these facilities offer very good quality service. Ecotourists will enjoy the southern areas and Gulf of Mexico, the tropical paradise where you can enjoy outings in the lush green vegetation. Mexico altogether, has one of the most bio-diverse habitats of the world. Chocolate, tomato, vanilla, avocado, varieties of beans, and chilies and many other ingredients that we use every day has made it to the old world from these lands. The Yucatan Peninsula, on the other hand, is the gateway to Mayan civilizations and also houses the world’s second largest coral reef where you can scuba dive to witness the wonders of the nature.
Europeans set foot in this land in 16th century. The legacies of great ancient civilizations go back thousands of years before that! They were very advanced in mathematics, astronomy, medicine and theology. The mystery is still not uncovered, and for some time, won't be either. Be sure to visit the marvelous site and large Pyramids at Teotihuacan.
The cities of Mexico is very lively and colorful. There are wonderful shopping opportunities, great museums featuring the ancient civilizations, fabulous architecture, many energetic nightclubs. Both cities and the excellent touristic facilities, are all tastefully designed with contemporary and traditional styles as well. You can really tell that there is a huge volume of tourism. The places feel really nice to be in. On the down side, some violent crimes, mostly related to drug traffic and use, occur often. These occurrences do not exactly target tourists, but still should be noted.
Mexican cuisine has a very unique way of its own. Chili is adored here. If you are the chili loving type, this country is for you. Though different regions have diversity in their styles, the hot sauces are the common point. For example, northern regions are fond meat dishes, mostly of beef and goat whereas southern regions favor vegetables and chicken based specialties. The coastal areas offer seafood, as well as traditional corn based recipes. Some of these dishes are somehow influenced by international culture, but still has that special flair and flavor that rightfully attract all the attention.
Mexico is a unique country in its own. People are friendly and welcoming too. With all the enjoyable diversity and most importantly, developed opportunities and facilities. Every traveler of Mexico has a different experience that urges them to come back.
