The Eternal city of Rome, “Caput Mundi”, was the capital of the magnificent Roman Empire and so, the whole world. This city has seen and suffered a lot from natural disasters to political ups and downs, proving itself "eternal". Nothing diminished its beauty and it stands today as a witness of thousands of years, waiting to be explored and uncovered.

You don't have to go indoors and listen to somebody or read a text, just cruise the narrow streets opening up to piazzas -the squares, and the civil architectural qualities will reveal their secrets to you; fountains in every piazza, beautiful carved statues and sculptures, sweet little churches, roof gardens... Look up, and take notice the excellence of detail. And then there are the colossal monuments. Go inside, keep exploring and you'll discover another world. You'll feel the heritage of thousands of years of aristocracy. Perhaps the most amazing thing in this seven hilled city is the harmony of Imperial and Baroque styles in art; while one symbolizes the nobility of the Roman Empire, the other shows the rise of Renaissance, yet both these contradicting personalities don't clash. In addition, there's a rising modern city and culture of Rome. Especially after the World Wars, a contemporary metropolis started to grow around the old city and these newer districts feature as good an urban tourism as any other major city of the world. The shopping and dining options are exquisite and plentiful.

The olden districts of the city are situated along the River Tiber. While the east side is the capital of Roman Empire, just on the west bank is the capital of Catholic Church, the Papal city-state of Vatican City. The huge St. Peter's Cathedral and the unrivaled Vatican Museum are must sees and in fact, attract quite a number of pilgrims and scholars as well as casual tourists every year. The sides of this river witnessed 'friendly' power struggles between the Emperor and Pope. Remember that when you see the carved initials of "S.P.Q.R" or "The Senate and People of Rome". You'll find many plazas and cathedrals, astonishing monuments, the Pantheon, the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum in the old parts of the city, each more exciting than the last. There are top class museums and art galleries all around. Just like the city, the art scene has many contradicting eras and personalities too, some feature the ancient while others are keen on contemporary.

Rome is an immense experience and as a city has an unmatched atmosphere which makes you feel at the capital of the world. In this city, stories of every wall and every stone is worth listening to. Don't forget to go to the higher viewpoints of the city and enjoy this gigantic air museum from above too.
