One glance of the world map, and you'll
notice "the boot" that is Italy. A very odd shaped
extension of the land sticking out from the European Continent into
the Mediterranean Sea. Covered by the Mediterranean Sea on three
sides, Italy is bordered by Austria and Switzerland- the countries of
the Alps in the north.
Overall, the mild and pleasurable
Mediterranean climate, which in summer, is hot enough to swim but not
hot enough to faint, dominates this country.
With this much seaside, it won't be
surprising to state that you will find great beaches for your
unforgettable vacation. The green really meets the blue in this
country! Wonderful nature, serene Italian villages where you can
strip your mind of all stress... However, none of these are the most
important lure of Italy. It's the culture and heritage!
When we say Italy, we have to mention
Rome. It has been by far the most influential city in the pages of
history. It served as the capital for the Roman Empire! Both this
heritage, and the geographic position made it attractive as a capital
for any world dominating empire, yet that wish had never been
fulfilled again after the Romans. Later in the middle ages, this
country was the birthplace of Renaissance. It is safe to say that
Italy has always been the center of the world. Examples of the best
architecture, the best relics, the best visual arts can be observed
here. To date, Italy has the most number of UNESCO World Heritage
Sites; a hardly surprising fact, isn't it? There are so many
important things to see, so many details to catch that you can spend
a lifetime here and learn new facts (and some myths too) every day!
You don't have to go into a museum to enjoy the artistic flair, the
cities are an open air museum of monuments! Buildings in piazzas will
carry you away to those glorious times they were built in. If I was
to mention the things to see in Italy, you would have to scroll down
a lot to read the rest of this article. Every single monument in Rome
has to be seen, every modern art museum has to be visited. So make
yourself some more and even more time because you wouldn't want to
say "I should have seen that" afterwards.
From the visual arts and literature to
the breakthrough of Renaissance and Scientific Revolution, the
contribution of this land to world heritage is really beyond words.
One has to go and witness it first hand. Great minds like Leonardo da
Vinci or Galileo lived here. And so did Machiavelli!
The people of Italy are known for their
emphasis on passion, you can witness that at the first glance.
Capital of fashion, "haute couture" is here. If that is the
thing you're looking for, I wouldn't have to tell you Milan is the
place to go! You'll notice that emphasis on every minute of your
stay. Latino beats, hot dances, food and wine culture, even the way
people talk and act are very passionate. This passion shows itself in
every minute of an Italian's life. Don't get into any fights or
arguments, they won't let go. The cars Italian companies design are a
thing of beauty. The most important supercar manufacturers Ferrari,
Lamborghini, Maserati are Italians.
You will definitely fall for the wines
of this country; and so to the cuisine itself. Italian food is one of
the most influential around the world. The sauces, the cheese, the
vegetables... It's not only pizza and pasta, there is a lot more to
discover.
There is more art and passion here than
anywhere else in the world. The longer you stay in Italy, the harder
it gets to leave.
