"The Caribbeans" is the general name for around 7000 islands of various sizes and shape in the Caribbean Sea which is between North and South American Continents. Some of these islands are independent countries such as Cuba, whereas others may belong to other mainland countries such as Virgin Islands of the USA. In all these islands, the climate is tropical, though each island experiences a different version of it in relation with elevation and size of the land. Prevailing winds, sea currents are the other main factors. Some islands are uninhibited, some are declared wildlife and natural reserves, some are of volcanic origin and some are non of those things. So there is a lot of variety to be found. In the pages of history, these Islands are where Columbus landed in 1492 thinking he had reached India. Therefore, he named these, the West Indies. The name is still in use. Before the arrival of Europeans, tribes of Caribs existed in some of these islands. Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, French, and British, nations colonized these lands as soon as they can. The rest of the history is pretty similar to those of other "new world" regions. Epic battles between both sides, immigration and slave labor from all around the world, fall of empires and independence of small nations and oh, let's not forget the most interesting, the pirates! These lands hold their share of historical heritage too. Especially in larger islands, there are colonial cities and castles to be found. For those who like to explore, the island countries are big enough to spend weeks on. Cuba is on a huge independent island, Haiti and Dominic Republic share another big one, Puerto Rico and capital of reggae music Jamaica are on some of the other major islands. Other famous islands are The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, Cayman Islands, Belize, Aruba, Virgin Islands, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago etc. the list goes on. As everyone would agree, Caribbeans are the ultimate vacation resort. Exquisite white sand beaches and turquoise blue water are available all around the year. There are natural wonders like volcanoes and reefs, unique cuisine, many attractions and probably most important of all, various opportunities depending on your budget; from cozy bed and breakfast motels and hostels for the backpack traveler, to all-inclusive top notch resorts for that romantic weekend getaway or family vacation as well. As this area has been the most important and most attractive vacation spot for some time, the facilities have ensured the highest standards as well. If you are the sort that look for different activities on both land and sea, you will be utterly satisfied. Carnivals all year round, golf courses, hiking opportunities, camping, extreme sports on rivers and rapids, and on-sea activities like scuba diving, fishing, windsurfing or water skiing.... You can imagine the rest of the list too. Nowadays, although these spots are widely globalized don't for a moment think that there is no regionalism. For example, the restaurants offer local cuisine, spicy and delicious recipes using local produce and of course, amazing choices of seafood. Fresh lobsters of these salty waters are as mouthwatering as it gets. Especially the romantic dinners under the moonlight and shining stars always turn out to be unforgettable moments of one's life. The local music is overwhelming too, from the top quality reggae beats to the exotic tunes of the steel drum. Some take luxurious cruises to the Caribbean, some get their private yachts on these waters, whereas quite a number of travelers choose to just book their plane tickets and hotels online. Either of these ways, Caribbeans offer dreamy, and otherworldly experiences for every single individual.
