Ontario is by far the most important province of Canada. Situated between Hudson Bay and the USA, this area is home to one third of Canadian population and is the iron horse of the economy. The capital of Canada, Ottawa and biggest city Toronto are in this region. It is vast in size too. Ontario serves many distinct approaches of tourism in a package. While the cosmopolitant cities are of the best cities to visit, the countryside has an immense variety from lakes, rivers and beautiful hills to arctic lands where you can go polar bear watching.
Rivers and lakes of Ontario are very famous with their natural beauty and charm and attract many outdoor tourists evey year. The sandy Wasaga Beach, the longest freshwater beach in the world is at a ninety minutes drive from Toronto and worth visiting for swimming and regular beach life. And then there's the glorious Niagara Falls that really doesn't need much explanation. These natural wonders create wonderful hiking and biking trails of different difficulty for every tase. Apart from the waters, "The Sleeping Giant" (collection of mesas resembling a sleeping giant profile) is another hot spot for trekking. The northern regions of Ontario are vast and empty, serving seclusion and tranquility.
The cities of Canada always possess that special blend of cultures charm. The society is always laid back and open minded. The cities are well developed and definately not short of sights and attractions. Toronto area steps forward here, with its culture, great architecture, rich museums, excellent shopping areas and energetic nightlife. This city is best enjoyed from the heights of CN Tower.
All things combined, Ontario becomes an all-rounder for tourism, serving a lot of variety for different tastes. Ontario is a mature province and is the heart of Canada.
