Aruba is a luxurious island in
Caribbean Sea situated only 15 miles away from the coasts of
Venezuela. Aruba has some distinct characteristics that set it apart
from other Caribbean Isles.
The island is about 20 miles long and
very very thin, so it has two main coastlines, one at northeast and
the other, at southwest of the island. The northeastern beach is open
to Atlantic Ocean, so is windy and wavy. There are fine beaches, but
the thing to enjoy here is surfing, kite surfing and windsurfing.
There are cliffs around this coastline as well. The other coastline,
the southwestern, faces the much calmer Caribbean Sea. This is the
region where you should enjoy the marvelous white sand beaches. Most
importantly, aruba is a surprise-free island, it doesn't rain as
often as it does in other tropical zones. This island is out of the
hurricane zone too. The sun is always boiling hot but there is a
constant cooler wind that blows your worries away. With these
qualities, the climate can be called perfect for enjoying the beach.
And for that maximum pleasure, every need of you is thought of and
offered in the top quality hotels and resorts. Casinos, shopping
areas featuring designer boutiques, fine restaurants and excellent
nightlife; facilities are abundant. There is even a national park for
eco-enthusiasts.
The midlands of the island is mostly
arid and has cactus and native divi-divi trees. Aloe Vera plants are
seen everywhere and has an industry based on them. The capital,
Oranjestad as the name suggests, is orange in color, due to historic
Dutch presence. The locals are multilingual and very warm.
Aruba offers all of the usual
activities in a luxurious manner with non of the bad surprises or
drawbacks. It is not a quiet corner of the earth, it is a guaranteed
blast.
